How by saying no to a big lucrative project, I said a big yes to myself

Recently, I did something that is “kind of out of character”. Even my best friend commented “you are not yourself”. What happened is, without realizing it at first, I was releasing some of my old patterns and, in the process, I made a decision that I would not have “dared” to make before.

It all started about a month ago with a request from a client & a belief of my own.

The request was from a client attending one of my local Energy Classes. They asked if I could give energy tips that would help with liver issues. So I obliged and gave the participants some proven energy medicine techniques to detox & boost the energy of the liver.

Now, there are 3 things you need to know about the liver, my energy healing practice and how I work with my clients:

First, the liver is known for being the seat of anger, frustration & rage. For this reason, as alcohol is an irritant to the liver, people can become more aggressive & break up into arguments after a few drinks. So when you work on that organ’s energy, you need to be also prepared to deal with the emotions that subsequently can be released.

Secondly, something that regularly happens with my healing practice is that one person might come up with one issue, and soon, often in the space of a few days, they are followed by 2 or more clients with similar problems. So, over a few weeks, most of my work focused on liver issues.

Thirdly, one important aspect of my practice as an energy healer is that when working on others, the energy work we do also affects my own energy, and I usually benefit from any energy healing session I run. This liver work I did was no different.

Here comes my belief (which I might add I have hold for many years) – “I have no anger in me”. Indeed, in the course of my energy healing work, I have dealt with many of my “negative”...Read More

Letting Go Of Beliefs

For a while now, through various mentors & development programs, I have been looking at my life and how I can promote my personal & professional growth & expansion. This work has brought me to take a closer look at my beliefs. We all have them and we live our lives according to them. I discovered that I am FULL of them – “Beliefs”. For instance, here is one of mine: I don’t believe that we have good/positive beliefs and bad/negative ones. I believe (here is another one) that our beliefs are here to serve us until… they stop serving us. Sometimes we hold on to our “disserving” beliefs for various conscious & unconscious reasons.

Recently I found myself changing 2 of my beliefs virtually overnight. In the process I had to admit that I was “wrong” – and I feel so much the better for it! Here are my 2 beliefs:

“I don’t “do” hangovers” – I must admit I do enjoy a glass or sometimes “more” of Chilean Sauvignon wine or sometimes spirits. For years I have been able to go out and enjoy a few drinks without suffering the next day… for years! When my friends often suffered for 1 or 2 days, I would be maybe a bit tired but nothing more. Well, let me tell you that I have changed that belief and for good! After recently suffering the “mother of hangovers”, I can declare that I was wrong and “I too get hangovers” - maybe not as often as most people would, but I still do.

“I don’t “do” sickness – I am never ill” – This has been the case for over 15 years now - virtually since I started doing energy work. Every bug, virus, flu, cold, sore throat, and gastro, which have been “going around” have literally “missed” me. I don’t suffer from headaches/migraines, nor backache. Everyone around me (family members & friends, the whole local community) might have “it” when I usually carry on enjoying full health.
Well, let me tell you that, here too, I WAS WRONG! At the time of...Read More

Time to slow down! 5 Energy Tips to change your pace

Something someone told me a few weeks ago got me thinking! They told me: “SLOW DOWN”!

I took a moment to think about it and realized that, despite my best intentions and all the planning I did before the start of the year, the one thing that has been consistent in my life over the past few weeks is that I have been literally “racing”! Going from one meeting to the next, chaining projects after projects, rushing to the rugby/soccer training, fitting in some classes & teaching here & there, while making further plans & booking myself on various events for the next 6 months…. January has been & gone since I even noticed it! “Busy” is good, especially when you are self-employed & trying to run a business, but it all depends on the type of “busyness” you are doing. Sometimes it is important to put the brakes on!

So take a quick look at what you have been up to for the past few days & weeks. If any of this resonates with you, it might be time to stop, take a breath and refocus! I truly believe that becoming aware is the first step to any healing. You need to acknowledge where you are at before you can make the changes that you need. For me, it has been about realizing that I am going too fast and need to stop, take a breath & relax. As an energy practitioner, I am lucky to know a few easy tools that can make these changes easy, effortless and even fun!
Here are a few tips to get you started in your new “slow way of being”:

Take a break from anything “connected” for a while (yes, especially “social” media) – even if it is only the time of a cup of coffee while you watch your kittens playing in the garden. If you can, get outside and enjoy the sun & wind on your face while you savour your cuppa. Start small, do it once a week, then increase the frequency: twice a week, etc. Your energy will love you for this and after a while you will actually crave those little breaks.

The limbic breathing technique...Read More

10 things about your past year that you didn’t suspect could raise your energy & make you feel more positive

As an energy healer, I am always about raising other people’s energy - and mine :-). If you are feeling defeated about the past year and don’t think you have achieved your goals or made much progress... If you feel your business is still struggling despite all the long hours & efforts you have put into it. And if the thought of the new year brings a sense of dread & overwhelm, or a sinking feeling in the pit of your stomach, your energy levels could be low, not to mention your immune system.

Here are 10 aspects of your life that could raise your energy levels and make you feel more positive about the past year while helping you start the new year with a renewed energy & a better focus. Tip: the following exercise can be repeated any time you feel like you need it; and to get optimal results from it, for each of the next 10 points, make sure that you really feel the good feelings & warming sensations in your body.

1. One achievement.
If you look closely to what you have done this year, there will surely be something, big or small, that you have achieved. Whether privately or professionally, there is at least one thing that you can think of that makes you proud.

2. One relationship.
Maybe someone new you have met that has made a difference in your life this past year. This could be a positive new relationship but it could also be a not so good encounter that has made you think about things differently and has revealed a hidden aspect of your own personality. Remember without awareness we remain in the dark and no progress nor success can be achieved.

3. One creation.
Maybe it is a new product or service in your business, or a new connection or relationship in your private life. Maybe the seeds you sowed a few months ago have now grown into a beautiful garden. It can be anything you have brought to this world which you can say “I made that”.

4. One...Read More

EFT with children – 2 very different cases of thumb sucking

When I first started using EFT, I used it exclusively on myself for about 1 year and a half on various issues (both physical & emotional). Soon, I built up my confidence in the technique I started using it privately with friends & family members, and I introduced EFT to my own children.

When my six year old would fall and hurt his knees, I would gently tap under his collarbone to calm him down. I also got great results with EFT and earaches at night, when I would tap on my children in order to help them go to sleep despite a sore ear.
I then taught the tapping routine to my eldest son (he was 8 at the time) and started working with him on other issues maybe a bit more demanding or tricky to deal with than a simple physical pain. Each night I would help with any of the day's events that might have negatively affected my children's day. They would often mention a particular problem themselves. They might feel unjustly treated compare to their siblings, or upset at the loss of a toy or of the family cat, etc.
Sometimes I would tap on them directly; sometimes they would tap themselves. Children tend to find it very funny and enjoy the tapping as if it were a game.

One issue which I have dealt with using EFT is thumb sucking.

When my second child was 7 years old, my husband grew increasingly annoyed at the fact that he was still sucking his thumb. Personally, it did not bother me so much as I still saw him as "my baby", but what started to irritate me (and my child) was my husband's reaction to this habit. So I decided to sort out the problem once and for all.

It took me a whole of 10 minutes of tapping one night when I was putting my son in the bed. We tapped on the following:
Even though I don't want to give up sucking my thumb because I like it too much and it tastes lovely, I am a great kid anyway.
Even though I love sucking my thumb and I just don't want to give it up because it is a great comfort to me, I know I am a...Read More

When your best thought plan gets derailed …. Focus on the path of least resistance

Recently I got stopped in my track: the Wi-Fi connection stopped working and my mobile phone went on the blink. First I felt “I am back in the middle ages”. Then I thought “Well, I am not going to waste my time moaning about the poor service I am getting”. I looked at my todo list and realized there were tones of things that I had not attended to in recent days because I was “stuck on the computer”, trying to maintain my increasingly time consuming social media presence. So, I decided to “forget” about this inconvenient obstacle to my perfectly planned day, and undertook to turn it to my advantage. I ended up having one of my most productive days.

In one of my recent blogs I talked about how people tend to work “against” their energy as opposed to “with” it. Often, we start our day with the best intended plan. We know exactly what we have to do and we are determined to achieve it. For some people, the slightest deviation from their plan can send them spiraling into an increasingly stressful day. They finish the day all frazzled, feeling they had a “terrible” day, where nothing went right for them. You often hear them conclude “everything went against me, today”. But what if these obstacles were clues that you have to change direction? I truly believe that life works in mysterious ways. What if you could look at these obstacles differently, more like indicators that you need to change your focus? What if these obstacles were just new opportunities to do something completely different from your original plan?

When our plan does not go “according to plan”, a typical trait of us human beings is to first try & resist our obstacles. The fear underlying this way of thinking can take many forms – fear of failure, guilt, sadness, hopelessness, helplessness, low self-esteem, etc. Energetically, I have learned that resisting and fighting unexpected obstacles is often a lost...Read More

The complexity of stress & a simple energy tip to get back into the NOW

We are all conscious & aware of how stressful modern life can be. I don’t need to enumerate the various demands that can plague both our personal & professional lives. If I ask the question “what is robbing your energy right now?”, people usually point the finger to a never ending todo list, not enough time, unhappy at work, not enough support (both professionally & at home), etc. However, in my experience, these “obvious culprits” are rarely the real cause of your stress. As an Energy Healer, most people who come to me complaining about tiredness, low energy, stress, overwhelm (or underwhelm), a lack of enthusiasm for what used to be their main interests or for life in general, are “leaking” their energy for reasons they often least suspect.

Recently, Jane (not her real name) came to me complaining of a general lack of energy. She felt that her todo list was never ending and was feeling overwhelmed. No matter how much she did, she could only find more to do, and found impossible to prioritise her work. The realisation that her work would never be done and that she would have to start “all over again” tomorrow was really getting her down.

During our initial conversation she became very emotional and I intuitively knew that simply cutting down on her todo list would not solve her problem and that something deeper was at play here. So using EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques, an energy healing modality often referred to as “tapping”), we did a bit of investigating. I often like to compare EFT to a “key that can open the gate of our subconscious mind”. It is a great tool to uncover the real “core” issues that often hide behind the apparent symptoms, deep in our subconscious.

While Jane was successful & happy at work, the rest of her life was starting to get her depressed. With EFT, we soon identified that her sense of lack of control hemmed from her need for having everything done perfectly - everything had to be exact, at the right place, in the...Read More

Grounding Tips

The people that come to me for energy healing are all very different in many ways – size, age, education, background, culture, etc. They all manage and live their energy in different ways. However, over the years, I have identified one common energetic issue that affects all of us to various degrees: grounding (or rather the lack of it).

To illustrate grounding, let me roughly compare the human body to an electrical device: the same way as an electrical device needs to be “earthed”, we need to ground our energy. When we are grounded the energy flows harmoniously into our life. Unfortunately, the stressful demands of our modern life have a tendency to disrupt this flow and, to various degrees, we lose this important energetic connection to Earth.

The symptoms can be obvious: we become clumsy, we drop things or bump into furniture, we cannot concentrate, lose our thread of thoughts, become forgetful, cannot remember why we went upstairs, even find it difficult to learn & study. Severe cases, where the lack of grounding is constant and prolonged, can manifest more serious illnesses. Or often the symptoms are more subtle: we feel vaguely anxious, confused, nervous, not in control, overwhelmed, etc.
Luckily you don’t need to be an expert in energy or a master at meditating or inner work to rekindle this important energetic connection. There are very simple things that anyone can do to get that connection back on. You can regain your inner peace, confidence and feel in control again both mentally (with an enhanced focus and clarity of thoughts) & physically (better coordination & an enhanced awareness of your body & environment).

The following easy tips should help you get some immediate relief. If you practice them often and integrate them into your life, you could even greatly enhance your wellness and generally live a more vibrant life:
If standing up: put your hands on your tights. Take a big breath in and, as...Read More

Margaret's fear of needles

Margaret was 13 and due for her vaccine booster. She was terrified of needles and the only thought of them used to send chivers up and down her spine. This was Margaret's first time with EFT, and after a brief explanation of how the technique works we begun tapping.

We started with an intensity rating of 9 out of 10, and we did one round of the full basic EFT recipe with the following Setup Affirmation:

Although I have this fear of needles, I truly and deeply love and accept myself.

Her intensity rating went straight down to 3. I was happy of the vast improvement but a bit doubtful that we were over the problem yet. I tried to bring up her number slightly by getting her to imagine that she was entering the medical centre, getting in the room with the nurse and watching her get the needle ready for the injection. Margaret's level went back up to 4.

So we tapped on the remaining fear.

Although I still have this fear of needle, I truly and deeply love and accept myself.

We also tapped the basic EFT recipe on the "prickly sensation" that she hated:

Although I hate that prickly sensation, I truly and deeply love and accept myself.

Her intensity rating went down to 1.

Obviously, this was amazingly quick. In those circumstances I tend to always use the rolling of the eyes technique to "cap" the whole thing, as if to "put a lid on" the whole issue.

My ultimate aim was to make sure Margaret could go to the health centre full of confidence and with all fear of needles vanished. However, I did not have any needles at hand so I had to get Margaret to imagine the whole scene. I told her to try and imagine every single step: the waiting in the waiting room, the introduction in the room, the preparation of the needle by the nurse (usually done in front of you) and the actual injection into the arm. We then tapped one round...Read More

Lisa's craving for a cigarette

I met with Lisa, a friend of mine, who was currently 5 months pregnant with her second child. She was a smoker and wanted to quit. Although she was not a heavy smoker (about 10 cigarettes a day) and not really bothered with giving up, she was nevertheless conscious of the damage she could be doing to her unborn child as well as the passive smoking that her 2 1/2 year old little boy was suffering from her habit.

When I met Lisa, she welcomed me with a cigarette in the hand.

Whenever I deal with cravings I try to get my client in the worse state of craving that they can possibly and safely endure. In the case of smokers, I usuall ask that they refrain from smoking before meeting with me.

Since Lisa was just after having had her “nicotine fix”, we had to wait a while before being able to act on her craving.

However, after about an hour of chatting, her craving was back up, especially when I asked her to give me her pack of cigarettes and when I held one in front of her while telling her she could not have it (it usually does the trick).

So we did one round of tapping with the following setup affirmation:

Even though I have this craving for that cigarette, I truly and deeply accept myself.

Her intensity rating of 10 out of 10 did not budge at all after this full round.

So I decided to tap on the following affirmation:

Even though I don’t really want to give up smoking and EFT is probably not going to work, I choose to really give it a go anyway.

After completing this procedure, she immediately said that the intensity of her craving had shifted down to a 7 or 8.
<p...Read More
